Music & Musicians    1   2

This 'roster' approach also means that we usually try to use the people who are closest to the venue for any given engagement, which (though we make no great claims here) helps to reduce our carbon footprint slightly.

Putting on an enjoyable and involving ceili dancing exerience set to exciting and innovative music requires not only the best musicians, but also first class sound equipment and the close attention of a sound engineer throughout the evening. If you've ever been to a ceili where you couldn't hear the band or caller properly above the din of voices and clattering feet on the dancefloor, you'll appreciate the importance of this.

And what of the music itself?

Ultimate Ceili draws heavily - and unashamedly - on the core repertoire of Irish traditional tunes (with Scottish tunes for the traditional Scottish dances too, of course). Tom's arrangements are undoubtedly influenced by the big names of the Irish music revival of the Seventies: The Bothy Band, Planxty and Moving Hearts. So: familiar favourites set to a rocking, thumping, bubbling, fizzing rhythmic backdrop. What could be better?
