Ceili music and dancing has undergone a revival of interest in the past five years or so. Riding the crest of this wave has kept UC's guitarist and musical director Tom Fleming busy but a mounting feeling that something was lacking from even the best bands on the scene* led to the founding of Ulimate Ceili.

The aim was simple: a rocking ceili band for weddings and functions that would not be out of place on the concert stage, combining 'proper' Irish/Scottish session players with a rhythm section that refuses to lie down.

Though the Ultimate Ceili was initially conceived as a bit of a 'dream team', the reality is that professional musicians of the calibre Tom sought to recruit weave their careers out of a number of strands and naturally fill their diaries with whatever work comes in first. Rather than pretending to have a fixed lineup, as most function bands do (though most engagements will feature one or more 'deps' or deputising players), Ultimate Ceili draws on a roster of the best players around.
